Day and night blinds — also called vision or zebra blinds — use alternating sheer and opaque fabric stripes that slide past each other as you adjust the blind. Align the sheer bands for soft, filtered light during the day; overlap the opaque bands for privacy at night. It's a contemporary alternative to traditional roller blinds that gives you far more control over how much light enters the room.

Everything you need to know about electric roller blinds in one place.
Vision blinds (also called day & night blinds, zebra blinds, or duo blinds) consist of two layers of fabric with alternating sheer and opaque horizontal stripes.
By adjusting the alignment of the stripes, you can achieve anything from full privacy to beautifully filtered natural light. When the opaque stripes overlap, you get complete privacy. When the sheer stripes align, soft light filters through whilst maintaining a degree of privacy.
The blind sits inside an elegant cassette housing (7.5cm deep × 6.5cm high), available in 7 colours: White, Beige, Satin, Chrome, Bronze, Anthracite and Black. The bottom bar automatically matches your chosen cassette colour for a coordinated look.
Choose between a traditional chain mechanism for simple, reliable manual operation — or upgrade to electric with a Somfy motor and rechargeable lithium-ion battery for effortless motorised operation with no wiring required. The battery charges in place approximately once a year.

Electric Upgrade
Adding the electric option (Somfy rechargeable motor + remote) costs an additional £166.96 inc. VAT per blind.
The chain (manual) option has no additional cost.

The collection includes 21 fabric ranges, each with a variety of colours and textures. The fabrics are specifically designed for day & night (vision) blinds, with alternating sheer and opaque strips woven into a continuous loop of fabric.

Fabric Characteristics

Vision blinds can be fitted inside or outside the window recess.
Inside Recess Fitting
The blind fits within the window opening. The cassette and brackets sit inside the recess for a neat, flush appearance.
Outside Recess (Face Fix) Fitting
The blind sits on the wall above and around the window frame. Choose this for maximum light blocking and to make windows appear larger.

Control Options
Chain (Manual) Operation
Pull the chain to adjust the position of the sheer and opaque strips. You choose:
- Chain side — Left or right (as viewed from the front)
- Chain colour — 7 colours to match your cassette
- Total height — Floor to top of blind, used to calculate chain length
Electric (Battery Motor) Operation
The Somfy rechargeable motor upgrade gives you motorised control via a handheld remote (included). The lithium-ion battery charges in place with a plug-in charger — typically once a year.

What are vision blinds?

Can I fit vision blinds myself?
Yes! Vision blinds are designed for easy DIY fitting. They come with brackets and full instructions. You just need a drill, screwdriver, spirit level and tape measure.
What’s the difference between chain and electric?
Chain operation is a traditional manual mechanism — you pull a chain to adjust the blind. Electric operation adds a Somfy motor with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery inside the cassette, controlled by a handheld remote (included). The battery charges in place approximately once a year. How long does the electric battery last?
The Somfy motor uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that typically lasts around a year between charges with daily use. Battery life varies depending on blind size and how often you operate it.
How do I recharge the battery?
You recharge the lithium-ion battery in place using the Somfy plug-in charger — there’s no need to remove the blind from the window, and the blind continues to work while charging. Most customers charge once a year.
What colours are available for the cassette?

How do I measure for vision blinds?
For inside recess fitting, measure the exact width and drop of the recess opening. For outside recess (face fix), measure the area you want to cover, adding overlap as desired. Always measure in centimetres.
What is the delivery time?
Vision blinds are made to order and typically delivered within 7 to 10 working days. Delivery to UK Mainland is free.
Can I order multiple blinds with aligned fabric?
Yes, if you order multiple blinds in the same fabric, they will be cut from the same batch to ensure consistent colour and pattern alignment.

Measuring Guide
- Inside recess: Measure the width at top, middle and bottom — use the narrowest measurement. Measure the drop on both sides — use the longest measurement.
- Outside recess: Measure the area you want to cover, allowing extra overlap if desired (we recommend 5-10cm each side).
